In the previous post on my blog, I shared about WhatsApp working on a new feature which will allow users to instantly react or like status updates. There is another feature which WhatsApp has added in the latest version which is likely an extension of the already available feature.
In the latest version of WhatsApp beta 2.24.8.6, WhatsApp has added a new emoji button to quickly react to Images in chats. This will work everywhere in WhatsApp. Here are some screenshots -

As you can see in the screenshot, an emoji button is added besides the reply bar for an image (3rd screenshot). Tapping the button opens the reaction selection popup where you can choose any reaction. The cool thing is about this is that the boring white emoji button will be replaced with the whatever reaction you select. As you can see I reacted with a heart emoji and the smiley button got replaced with heart emoji. Also the selected reaction will be visible just above the reply bar in case if other people react with other reactions.
One thing to note here is that reacting to Images is nothing new. For single images you can already long press on the image in chat and react. But for images which are sent as group/grid, you have to tap the grid and it open all images in scrollable way. You can react by long pressing an image here.
The new reaction button will definitely help you react instantly to images which are sent in a group/grid while you open them individually. This way you don't have to long press again and again to react to each image. I am not sure when WhatsApp will roll out this feature.
