<b>Substratum </b>provides the ability to theme your system and third party apps. Substratum has been here since android nougat and its still being managed. It was possible for people to use substratum even without root , but only upto Android 8.1. With Android Pie google has restricted the use of overlays on non-rooted devices. There is no to install them without root.<br />
<br />
So now if you are on Android 10 and want to use substratum themes then you need a rooted device. <strike>At this moment of writing this,  Android Q is still in beta stage and has been available to the app developers and for different devices for testing their apps and giving feedbacks.</strike><br />
<br />
There are new themes started popping up for Android 10 on play store. I will list all the Android Q supported substratum themes here in this post once they come out and will try to keep the post updated.<br />

For using substratum themes on Android Q , you need to be rooted with Magisk and need to install the  <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum.lite&hl=en" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><b>Substraum Lite </b> </a>app. This is the lite version of the popular Substratum theme engine. The main substratum theme engine app does not support Android Q as of now but we can expect to get it working in near future. Substratum lite supports Android Q and still being developed and improved for better compatibility with android.<br />

How to apply themes with substratum lite - <br />
Make sure you have Magisk and a Android Q compatible theme installed.<br />

<ol><li> Install the substratum lite theme engine from play store.</li>
<li> This app will automatically install its magisk module.</li>
<li> Reboot</li>
<li> Open substratum lite again and click the theme you installed.</li>
<li> Install all overlays and reboot</li>
<li> Open substratum lite and click on Manage , select all overlays and enable them.</li>

<h2><span>List of themes -</span></h2>1. <h3>Ethereal -</h3>This theme is in beta testing <b>(update: out of beta and stable now)</b>  but it works really well android Q. I have used it on Q personally, its a simple theme with most of the popular apps theme support. The best things about this is the the custom icons, simple and minimal. Unlike other themes size of this theme is very just about 3-4 MB.<strike> You need to join the beta testing in order to use this theme on Q.</strike> Its a paid theme.<br />

3. <h3>Outline X -</h3>This is not a theme, it is just an extension of the Outline and Ethereal themes. It provides more color options to choose from and some other tweaks for the theme. You can even generate Telegram and Telegram X themes from it.<br />

4. <h3>Substweaks -</h3>This is also not a theme but it provides a variety of tweaks for for the user interface. It might not be fully supported on Q because its not updated from some time but you can give a try. I have personally tested this but not all the options from it. I just used it to change the number of columns in notification bar and it worked well for me.<br />

5. <h3>Valerie -</h3>Valerie is a well known substratum theme due to the wast numbers of custom icons, colors and customizations options. It supports  AOSP Android 10 for theming just like the rest of the themes I mentioned above. It also supports OxygenOS based on Android 10. This is also a paid theme.<br />

10. <h3>Swift Installer -</h3>Its not a substratum theme, its a standalone theming engine which does not require substratum app. It provides the ability to choose your own background and accent colors using color picker, you can also use hex color values. All you need is to select colors and build overlays and reboot.<br />

<b>Update: Its been 3 months since I wrote this tutorial when Android 10 was in beta stage. Now it out of beta and appearing on different devices now. I am updating the installation steps and you do not have to read everything written below, its outdated. Just jump to installation steps and <i>what you need.</i></b><br />

Before you jump to reading instructions, the most important thing I want to tell you is that you need ROOTED device in order to use substratum on Android Q Beta. With Android Pie google has blocked all ways of installing overlays saying that - The Overlay Manager Service (OMS) is intended for device manufacturer's use. OMS, in its current form, is not designed to be a generic theming feature. <br />
<br />
With Android Q, google has changed many things most of them are regarding the internals such as dynamic system partitions. Magisk dev TopJohnWu has already succeeded in rooting Android Q and most of the device running Q beta can be rooted easily with magisk. Google already have implemented a system-wide dark theme and most of the apps are adopting the dark themes now. One might feel that this dark mode in Android Q has eliminated the need of substratum themes, this might be true to some extent but the variety of customization is more bigger with substratum themes.<br />
<br />
I was using the Android Q beta GSI by erfan and found that due to some issues substratum and substratum lite were not able to install overlays. At this moment substratum app does not work properly with Q which may be rectified in future but for now I found a workaround to install susbstratum themes.There are not many Android Q compatible themes as of now. The only theme that I used on Q is <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.schnettler.ethereal">ethereal</a>. Join the beta of this themes to use the Android Q version.<br />
<br />
Before you proceed to use this method I suggest you to use<a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum.lite&hl=en"> Substratum Lite</a> app to install substratum themes. Try it once because it may work for you , if it does not work properly or the overlays not getting installed after building and reboot, then you can use this workaround to apply substratum themes. <br />

2. A device running Android 10 (Q) which is rooted with Magisk.<br />

2 • Launch Substratum lite and click on the theme.<br />

3 • Select the overlays you want and build them. You might see a dropdown selection just on top after clicking on the theme. Just select Android Q/10 from it, if its not there then ignore.<br />

4 • Reboot<br />

5 • Open substratum lite and in manager tab you will see all the overlays. Just enable them and your theme will get applied.<br />

Its no doubt that if you are reading this then you might be searching for some of the best kernel managers to tune kernel settings to get the maximum or balanced performance out of your phone. Other things which I am sure of is that - you know about root, installing ROMs and Kernels. Thats a good start and I don't need to explain you about kernel and root.<br />

A kernel manager allows you to tweak the settings of your device at the kernel level. A kernel is the heart of your phone and you need to take care of it sometimes to keep everything working well and fluid. Most of the Android devices are shipped with a default kernel which are already tuned for best performance but that might be not true for all. An average user does not care about much these things and maybe do not know about these things. All these stuff for the nerds. So a default kernel which is shipped with devices does not provide much options for users to tweak the settings, meanwhile a custom kernel opens a vast array of options for tweaking.<br />
<br />
With custom kernels you can tweak the CPU/GPU speed , manage the screen colors, get options for optimizing sound controls at kernel level and a lot of other things. It is not like that you will get all these options in a custom kernel automatically, for this the developer of that kernel has to add all these things in kernel. You can have more or less features compared to other custom kernels.<br />

Since we are looking here for kernel managers, then we do not have much options to choose from. Personally I found 3 kernel managers which serves the purpose of tweaking kernel very well. One of them is free and 2 are paid. So lets start with the free one.<br />

<h2><span>1. SmartPack Kernel Manager</span></h2>SmartPack-Kernel Manager is a heavily modified version of official Kernel Adiutor (KA), which is originally developed by Recognized Developer @Grarak. Kernel Adiutor has been abandoned and have not received any update from July 2018. Since it was an open source project ,so a new dev SunilPaulMathew picked this up and has been improving it since then. This is not available to download from play store , you need to download this from the app release page on github. Interface of the app is pretty simple and settings are divided in section using a sidebar. The best feature of this app is - Custom Controls. With custom controls you can even add support for the things which has been added in kernel but are not supported by kernel manager yet. You can read more about these controls in the app itself. They are not easy as they seems because you need some knowledge of shell scripts. <br />

<h2><span>2. FK Kernel Manager</span></h2>This is a paid app and one of the most popular kernel manager out there. It has a nice and modern which I think is needed for the tall display devices. It has its navigation bar at the bottom of the app and makes it easy to reach settings and other options. It also provides live CPU/GPU speed , input/output speed, info about wakelocks, RAM, Zram, thermal temperatures of different things and kernel logs too.<br />

It has per-app profiles support which is the best things. You can make and profile with different setting and save it. These settings will get applied automatically when you launch that app for which you made that profile. It has a script manager which allows you to write a shell script and it will get automatically executed every time your phone boots. You can import and export these scripts easily from/to storage.<br />

It has a nice dark mode by default but you can that to light from settings. If you enable the battery monitor , it will start showing you the battery stats in notification bar which details of idle battery drain and on screen usage drain percentages. Its a very useful feature for me. <br />

Android Q beta 4 is recently released by google bringing new features, UI improvemets , new animations a lot of things which were hidden or we can say needed use of adb to bring them out.<br />

I earlier posted Q beta 2 installation guide but didn't post anything related to Beta 3 because it was not much stable and had more issues than beta 2. In ths guide I am gonna tell you how to install this Q beta 4 on your Moto G5 Plus.<br />

The most important thing I want to tell you is that if you use magisk a lot ,even just for root, then its not for you. The things is - Magisk is working for root but its creating system unstablitity issues. You might face random crashes , freezes and lag because of it. So choice is yours :p . [Beta 5 - Use magisk canary build, everything is fine with it]<br />

I hope you have all the basic knowledge of Treble, GSI, Flashing . If you don't know about all this please learn them about first, Google is your friend.<br />
<br />
It is going to be a little bit of long process to setup this GSI and get everything running perfectly. This GSI itself is made with a lot of hacks and Android Q is still in beta stage. I will try to explain everything simple as much as I can, but I hope you know the basics of installing a GSI.<br />

<h2><span>How to flash - </span></h2>• Extract the GSI and you will get a img file out of it. Extract the Pie Vendor and place it at right place as I told in downloads section.<br />
• Make sure you are already on Latest TWRP which supports both treble and non treble roms.<br />
<ul><li>1. Boot into TWRP , click on restore and you will see the pie vendor backup folder (if you extracted and placed the files at correct location) . </li>
<li>2. Tap on the Pie vendor backup and restore the boot and vendor.</li>
<li>3. Now go back and tap on <b>Install</b> and go to the folder where you extracted the img, after going there tap on the <b>Install Image </b>button given in bottom right, select the Pixel Q img then choose system image and swipe to flash it. </li>
<li>4. Now flash the Q-Beta-5-Fixes.zip </li>
<li>5. Flash the Fix_Zygote_V2 zip and Magisk </li>
<li>6. Reboot and wait until you reach homescreen.</li>
<li>7. Reboot to recovery again.</li>
<li>8. Flash the Q-Beta-5-Fixes.zip again and reboot.</li>
</ul><br />
Now you have reached homescreen , now next thing is to install google play services and get rid of the notification showing up in notification panel. Change the wallpaper also because it will lag a lot because of live wallpaper which is given by default.<br />

<b>Installing Google Play Services - </b><br />
1. Just install the apk of google play service with the default files app.<br />

<b>No files showing in third party apps/File managers ?- </b><br />
If you got into this issue follow these instructions- using root<br />
1. Install Terminal Emulator<br />
2. type<i> su -c sm set-isolated-storage off</i> and press enter, your phone will reboot after this.<br />

If you want to do this adb , then connect your phone to pc and make sure your phone is showing up in terminal. If that right then type the following line and press enter - <br />
<i>adb shell sm set-isolated-storage off</i><br />
Your phone will restart after this and you will be able to use apps which are not detecting storage.<br />

<h2><span>Notes</span></h2>• Moto Fingering gesture for home/back/recent works as well as chop chop works.Flash any treble compatible kernel for these to work. Moto Actions option in settings will force close always.<br />

<h2><span>Bugs</span></h2>• Google camera settings/Video recording force closes. Moto cam works but video recording broken.<br />
• It won't pass safetynet.<br />

Most of the people may not understand the meaning of title this post but if you ever read about Generic System Images i.e GSI then you have understood it. Back in kitkat, lollipop and Marhsmallow days people used to port ROMs, they still do from other devices with similar specifications. Its a tedious work to find phones with most similar specification and OS version. After the implementation of Treble in Oreo, it has become very easy (kind of) to port OEM specific systems. In easy words - You can port MIUI from Xiaomi, OxygenOS/HydrogenOS from One Plus, ZenUI, ZUI , Nubia UI and some more. Well, you need a treble supported phone with either 8.1, 9.0 or 10 Android Version. These GSIs will not work on Pre-Oreo Versions of Android.

ErfanGSI tool by developer Erfan Abdi is the best tool available for porting OEM specific ROMs. You can build a GSI just in just one or two minutes once you understood how it works. It is very user friendly tools where you have to just type some commands and tool will handle the rest of the porting process. Don't expect a perfectly working GSI from this tool because all OEM specific systems are different and system structure varies with each different device specially when the processor is different. Bugs will depend on the treble ROM of your device as well.

This guide is intended for users who have some idea about using linux/Ubuntu or Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud. Its possible to build on Mac as well, since I have no about it I am not going to tell about installation on Mac. This guide only ports the OEM systems which are on Android version 9 and 10. You can not port an Oreo firmwares from other OEMs with this tool. This GSI tool support building of Aonly and AB partition type GSI. It will automatically output both version, if you want to build Aonly version or AB only then you have to use some different command which you will see later in this post. If you are complete noob and have no idea about these things ,just head over to google and read about them.
<br>

<b>The system you need to build GSI -</b>
<br>
1. A powerful PC , 4GB RAM and dual core is not enough but it may take a lot of time. Higher the RAM and Cores lesser the build time.
<br>
2. A good internet connection , needed for downloading the OEM specific Zips which are usually more than 1GB. You can work with locally downloaded firware zips as well.
<br>
3. Ubuntu OS on your PC (thats what I use).
<br>
4. A working brain.
<br>

<br>
If you have all needed things above mentioned , I am considering that you have a good working PC setup. Now we will move to next steps of Installing some required things which will be used by the tool.
<br>

  <li> Open the terminal on your PC</li>
  <li> First we will clone the repo with all submodule repos. It will take time in cloning and everything is around 500-700MB.<br>

    Second- Now after cloning we will move to ErfanGSIs directory with <br>

  <li>Now we going to install all the packages which are required for building the GSIs from this tool. Its fairly simple, just type - </li>
  <br>

  If you face issues related to permissions during package installing the use sudo to execute the script.
  <li> When everything is above is installed, you are ready to build your GSI. </li>

The next step is finding the OEM specific system zips. These are basically the OTA zips which are released by smartphone companies to upadate their phones. All you need to find is a full OTA zip which is based on Android Pie. One Plus releases all OTA zips on their website, you can find other OEMs update zips by searching on google. You need a direct link of the URL of zip or you can download the OTA zip to your PC as well. I will tell both ways of building GSI directly from a URL as well as from the OTA zip which you have downloaded locally on your PC.

"Generic" tag is used for building GSIs based on AOSP. You can build GSIs from custom ROMS such as Havoc, Pixel Experience and more.

<h2><span>Generating GSI from a URL</span></h2>For example if you want to generate GSI of a One Plus 7 pro OTA/Firmware, then just make sure you are in the <b>ErfanGSIs</b> directory first, then enter this command -

The above command contains 3 things. First is the url2GSI - which is a bash script that handles rest of the things. Second is the URL of the firmware (Just replace it with a any OnePlus firmware link you want), third is the type of the system/Firmware, it is basically the name of the system which I have written in list. It can change accordingly to the firmware which you are trying to port. Like if you porting a MIUI firmware then you have to type <b>MIUI<i></i></b> instead of OxygenOS. Above command build both A and AB both version of GSI. You will get your GSI img in the <i><b>out</b></i> directory. These are usually img files over 2GB. You can compress them with 7z before uploading on the internet.

<h2><span>Compressing with 7z </span></h2>Just go the <b>out</b> folder and enter the 7z archive name and the name of the img file -

<h2><span>Generating Aonly or AB only GSI</span></h2>
Suppose you have Aonly device and you don't want to build AB version then in this case you have to use the command like this - <br>

<h2><span>Modifying System Before Building GSI</span></h2>With this method you can also modify the system before getting the final GSI. It is useful when the system is filled with bloat and you want to keep the GSI size smaller in order to fit into the system partition of your device.
In this I am using the url of OP6T firmware.

Make sure you are in <b>ErfanGSIs</b> directory. I am using all commands with <b>sudo</b> to avoid any kind of permission/access error.
<br>
1. This steps include the downloading of the firmware. You can use this same method on locally downloaded zips. Zip will be downloaded in <b>downloads</b> folder. Ignore all the errors you get after executing this command.
<br>

Do not type the firmware/system name in the end like we did earlier.

2. This step unzips the zip contents and converts the system to system.img and stores the system.img in <b>cache</b> directory.

3. Now make an empty <b>system</b> folder in ErfanGSIs directory where we will mount our system.img<br>
<i><b>mkdir system</b></i>
<br>

4. This step is to for mounting the system.img to system folder. Once mounted you can make changes in system before building the final img.
<br>
<i><b>sudo mount cache/system.img system</b></i>
<br>

<br>
You will see a system folder now with all the contents of system. Make whatever changes you want and proceed to next step.
<br>

<br>
5. This step will give the final output of GSI img in the out folder. You can make changes in the commands according to your use.
<br>
See the basic structure of this command -
<br>
<i><b> ./make.sh [path to GSI system] [firmware type] [output type] [Output Dir]</b></i>
<br>

<br>
<b>-Path to GSI system:</b> Mount GSI and set mount point
<br>
<b>-Firmware type:</b> Firmware mode, it means the name of the system like MIUI, ZUI, ZenUI, OxygenOS etc(see list above in post)
<br>
<b>-Output type: </b>AB or A-Only
<br>
<b>-Output Dir:</b> set output directory, we don't need it mostly because without this the img output will be in "out" folder. You can change it as you like.
<br>

Now everything is done , so my final command will look like this for OxygenOS GSI build. I am making Aonly img here. If you want to build for AB devices , just use AB instead of Aonly. If you want both , don't write Aonly or AB 
<br>
<i><b>sudo ./make.sh system OxygenOS Aonly</b></i>

thats it, you will get your img in out folder.

<h2><span>Notes</span></h2>1. You will not be able to build Android Q GSI because the system does not mount properly due to changes from google in the factory images of updates. This thing only applies to Android Q on Pixel Smartphones and Oneplus 7/7T. These phones comes with dynamic partitions and building from these requires some hacky workarounds. If you are still interested in building from these devices you can check out the <a href="https://gist.github.com/shivvvvvv/6ff35518eca03b86d2ec92a33c8407ba" target="_blank">MakeDynamic.sh script here.</a>

2. To build HydrogenOS you should use OxygenOS:HydrogenOS as the system/firmware type name.

3. Some GSI may need for a patched surfaceflinger to boot. This is fixed now and ErfanGSI can patch surfaceflinger automatically when booting.

4. ColorOS is not booting for most of the devices at this moment.

There are various tools to unpack boot images of Android for windows, mac and
linux. The most compatible is Android Image Kitchen tool which has been created
by XDA recognized developer Osmosis. This is just one tool in his long list of
tools. There are some situations when we need to unpack boot or recovery images
to modify them or port them from another device having same chipset and almost
same specifications. <br />
<br />
Not everyone have a PC or Laptop to do this this kind of thing so some people
look for ways to do it on their Android Phones. Once again Osmosis did a great
job in making the Android Image Kitchen work on Android. Now you don't need PC
to unpack or repack boot images. The only thing you need is a rooted device with
a custom TWRP installed. If you have both, its very easy to unpack images , just
like we do it on PC with Android Image Kitchen.<br />
<br />
<h2><span>What you need ? </span></h2>
• A rooted android phone.<br />
• Magisk 18.0 or later<br />
• Terminal emulator / Root browser Classic installed.<br />
<br />
<h2><span>Downloads</span></h2>

Now there are two different ways which you can use to unpack boot imgs. First
one involves the use of terminal emulator only and second only involves the use
of Root Browser Classis app only. I am going tell you about both of them. Before
we move to those steps , first we need to install AIK-Mobile Installer.<br />

<br />
<b>Installing Android Image Kitchen Tool</b><br />
<br />
This doesn't require much work, all you have to do is open Magisk Manager and flash AIK-Mobile-Installer zip. You can also flash this zip through TWRP. After reboot we are ready to unpack boot/recovery imgs.<br />
Lets learn about unpack/repack img methods.<br />
<br />
<h2><span> Terminal Emulator Method </span></h2>
Before proceeding to unpacking boot/recovery imgs you need boot/recovery imgs
first. When you have them, move the boot.img or recovery.img to
<b>/data/local/AIK-mobile</b> directory using any root explorer app. You can
unapack only one img at a time.<br />
<br />
Proper Instructions <br />
<ul>
  <li>
    Move your boot.img or Recovery.img to
    <b>/data/local/AIK-mobile</b> directory.
  </li>
  <li>
    Open Terminal emulator and then execute the following commands (italic words
    only) one by one - <br />
    → <i>su</i> (Grant root permission)<br />
    → <i>aik</i><br />
    → <i>sh unpackimg.sh </i> (Script will automatically detect the boot.img in
    that directory)
  </li>
  <li>
    After above command your boot.img will be extracted in the
    <b>/data/local/AIK-mobile </b> directory, you can see the extracted boot img
    in that directory with any root file explorer.
  </li>
  <li>
    After you have done making changes or whtever you needed to do with
    extracted boot.img you may want to repack it again.
  </li>
  <li>
    To repack the extracted boot.img again open the terminal emulator again and
    execute this command.<br />
    → <i>sh repackimg.sh</i>
  </li>
  <li>
    Above command will repack the boot img again and you will see a new
    <b>image-new.img</b> in the same directory. This is the new boot.img, you
    can flash or do whatever you want with it now.
  </li>
  <li>
    To cleanup the mess i.e the folders we get after unpack and repack of img ,
    execute this command in terminal. This will also remove the image-new.img
    file.<br />
    → <i>sh cleanup.sh</i>
  </li>
  <li>Done</li>
</ul>

<h2><span>Root Browser Method </span></h2>
This method is for those who don't want to write coomands again and again to
unpack and repack imgs. <br />
<ul>
  <li>
    Open Root broswer classic app ,grant root permission and move your
    boot/recovery img to <b>/data/local/AIK-mobile</b> directory.
  </li>
  <li>
    In AIK-mobile folder we have unpack , repack and clean shell script which
    are executable scripts.
  </li>
  <li>
    If you want to unpack img , just tap on <b>unpackimg.sh</b> file ,you will
    see a script handler popup, checkmark the "execute script as root" and
    finally click on <b>Execute</b> button. You will see the unpacking process
    there.
  </li>

Google released the Android Q beta 1 back in March and beta 2 now in april. Moto G5 Plus has community treble support with the help of which we can install GSI of android Q beta on G5 Plus. This GSI has been made by erfan as a port from Pixel device which is receiving Android Q beta along with other pixel series smart phones.<br />

Considering the fact that Android Q is still in beta stage, you are not going to have a great and perfect experience while using it but you can still taste the flavor of Android Q before everyone else does. Things like WiFi , RIL , Camera are working pretty well. Motorola fingerprint gestures works here , you need to flash a custom treble kernel like Optimus, Extended or Immensity for Moto fingerprint to work. I have personally tested this on my Indian variant of G5 Plus which has 4GB Ram, so I didn't face much problem while running it. Experience of users having 2GB RAM models may vary.<br />

The first thing I want to tell you is that it is going to be a little bit of long process to setup this GSI and get everything running perfectly. This GSI itself is made with a lot of hacks and Android Q is still in beta stage. I will try to explain everything simple as much as I can, but I hope you know the basics of installing a GSI.<br />

<h2><span>Requirements </span></h2>1. Patience, You really need this while setting up Q on G5 Plus.<br />

There are two parts of this installation process now, first is flashing the GSI and second is setting up google crap.<br />
<br />
<cente> PART 1</cente> <br />
<h2><span>How to flash - </span></h2>• Extract the GSI and you will get a img file out of it. Extract the Pie Vendor and place it at right place as I told in downloads section.<br />
• Make sure you are already on Latest TWRP which supports both treble and non treble roms.<br />
<ul><li>1. Boot into TWRP , click on restore and you will see the pie vendor backup folder (if you extracted and placed the files at correct location) . </li>
<li>2. Tap on the Pie vendor backup and restore the boot and vendor.</li>
<li>3. Now go back and tap on <b>Install</b> and go to the folder where you extracted the img, after going there tap on the <b>Install Image </b>button given in bottom right, select the Pixel Q img then choose system image and swipe to flash it. </li>
<li>4. Now flash the GSI-Fuxes zip. </li>
<li>5. Flash the FixZygote zip.</li>
<li>6. Flash the magisk 19 zip.</li>
<li>7. Reboot and wait until you reach homescreen.</li>
<li>8. Reboot to recovery again.</li>
<li>9. Flash the GSI-Fuxes Zip again and reboot.</li>
</ul><br />
Now you have reached homescreen , now next thing is to install google play services and get rid of the notification showing up in notification panel. <br />
First we need to turn off the scoped storage, without this you will not see anything in any file manager except the default file manager which crashes until we fix it.<br />
<br />
<b>Fix Scoped Storage - </b><br />
1. Open Terminal Emulator.<br />
2. Type <i>su </i> and grant root permission.<br />
3. Type <i>sm set-isolated-storage off</i> and press enter, your phone will restart after this command.<br />
<br />
<b>Installing Google Play Services - </b><br />
1. We fixed scoped storage now we can use FX file manager to install our gms.apk<br />
2. Just open FX file explorer and install the gms.apk like a normal app.<br />
3. After installing gms you really want to turn on your Do Not Disturb mode. :p<br />
<br />
<b>Device is not play protect certified - </b><br />
1. Install the device ID apk.<br />
2. Open it and copy the Google service framework ID.<br />
3. Now go to Android Device Registration page , login with your google account and enter the GSF ID you copied earlier and click register.<br />
4. Wait for 5 minutes , clear data to google play service and google play store.<br />
5. Now you can login to your google account and turn off the Do Not Disturb Mode.<br />
<br />
Set your Google Phone app as default Phone app, otherwise you won't see caller screen.<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2><span>Bugs</span></h2>• Data connection is unreliable, it turn on sometimes and sometimes it takes some reboots to work.<br />
• Magisk Manager force closes, you can still grant root permissions to apps.<br />
• It won't pass safetynet.<br />
• Some apps might not work due to compatibility issues and the restrictions imposed by Android Q.<br />
• There maybe other issues.<br />

Treble have made using OEM specific customized android version a lot easier. They are still not perfect port but for a treble enabled device, but they are usable. So here I am releasing a treble based MiRoom Pie for Moto G5 Plus. This is Miroom based on Android Pie. MiRoom is just another customized version of the original MIUI which has been shipped with Xiaomi smartphones. There are several things in MiRoom which are better than MIUI Global versions. The first and biggest thing is - Advertisement . In MiRoom , you won't see advertisement in system apps of MIUI like in Music, theme manager, downloads etc. <br />

The another plus point of MiRoom is that you can use third party .mtz MIUI themes. Miroom has options for choosing the notification style, i.e MIUI or Android style. There are other more things which you see if you thinking to use it. It has various languages available to choose from. <br />

Where is the Private DNS feature in Miroom ? <br />
With android Pie , we got a Private DNS feature which allows to change our DNS provider to our likings. In MiRoom and maybe in other MIUI Pie Roms, this option is hidden and you can't access it from settings . If you want to use the Private DNS , there is an <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-private-dns-xiaomi-devices-miui-10/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">article on XDA</a> , in which instructions to access Private DNS on MiUI are given.<br />

This is OxygenOS Pie port for Motorola G5 Plus. OxygenOS based on Android Oreo is already available for G5 Plus which you can <a href="https://thespandroid.blogspot.com/2019/01/oxygenos-for-moto-g5-plus.html">check here</a>. This port is actually a semiGSI which has been available since a month, but there was no Pie Treble ROM for G5 Plus at that time to make it work. G5 Plus dev Vache recently released a Pie Vendor which made this port possible. Since this port was not booting with the pie vendor, I modified the vendor a little bit and it booted. Then I fixed bugs specially the camera which was a little hard. Finally after some testing I am releasing it. <br />

This is not a perfect port and there are bugs, mostly are ROM side, because some things are One Plus exclusive and they do not work on other phones , e.g. alert slider, reading mode, ambient display. I have listed all the bugs in a list below. <br />
This ROM is already rooted with magisk and comes with immensity kernel. Moto actions are not available in this, so you can't use actions like chop chop , twist to open camera and more. Fingerprint gestures for navigation works (Home ,back, recents) <br />

This is oxygenOs semiGSI ported from One Plus 5, its running on android 8.1 and its 64bit. If you don't know what is root, TWRP, treble, bootloader unlocking etc. , then this article is not for you. You need an rooted G5 Plus with treble supported twrp installed.<br>

Well, personally never seen OxygenOS running on a One Plus device (What a shame ! 🌚)  , but I have read about it a lot on the forums and reviews, and when I used it on my G5 Plus, those all things I read were true about oxygenOS.  It was almost impossible some months ago to make it run on Moto G5 Plus, but thanks to vache who made project treble possible on G5 Plus, and Jhenrique who did the miui port , its vendor is being  currently used for all these miui and and oem rom sGSI ports like ZenUI, Samsung experience and ZUI.<br>

Well , lets come to this oxygenOS port, its been running fine on my G5 Plus , it is snappy, fast and overall experience is amazing. It is oreo, so its a little old because OxygenOS pie is already available for One Plus devices. It is not totally bugless, there are some bugs with which you have to manage if you want to use it. Bugs are not major because all things like Data, wifi, Bluetooth, hotspot and other most needed things are working. Some things won't work because they are kind of One Plus exclusive.  I managed to fix the USB tethering , Hotspot and brightness bugs, it much more usable, atleast for me :p . <br>

For the installation part , I made it easy for the users to install it , you don't have to flash 69+ patches this time , because I know its annoying. Its a tar.xz file , inside it there is TWRP backup of boot image, system and vendor. All you have to do is, just extract the tar.xz file and restore via TWRP , you don't need to flash anything . <h2><span>Bugs</span></h2>1. Rom side things like - alert slider, face lock, reading mode, some things in gesture section won't work and maybe more .<br>

2. If you are a person who use On Screen navigation keys, then this fine for you. If you use fingerprint navigation gestures then there is issue with keyboard. After reboot , keyboard doesn't pop up when you write something, to solve this you have to enable and then disable the "On-Screen Navigation Bar" in Setting > Buttons  after each reboot.<br>

3. No earpeace sound (see the fix)<br>
Earpeace Sound Fix-  Open dialer, tap on the three dots on top right, turn off "noice cancellation" .<br>

<h2><span>Things To Know</span></h2>1- It is pre rooted with magisk v18, just install magisk manager after boot , and then reboot again to make magisk work.<br>

2- Extended Kernel is already included. What about other kernel support? - Ace doesn't work, it will give issue and I have no idea about other kernel support, so flash at your own risk.<br>
