All Custom Kernels For Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus

Today I am sharing the all the custom kernels available for Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus . Custom kernels provide various options to utilize the hardware of smartphones. Stock Kernels which comes with the phone when we buy it doesn't provide much options to control the hardware. A kernel in an operating system—in this case Android—is the component responsible for helping your applications communicate with your hardware. It manages the system resources, communicates with external devices when needed, and so on. Android uses a variation of the Linux kernel. A kernel is not the same as a ROM, even though you install them in mostly the same way. A ROM is a bit more all-encompassing. It's the operating system you use on your phone, the software your phone uses to get things done—the kernel is the bridge between that ROM and your hardware. <br />
<br />
A custom kernel can be used to increase performance of phone by overclocking the CPU and GPU , it can also increase battery life.<br />
<br />

Custom Android Oreo ROMs are still a Work In Progress. Developers are trying to port the customization features from the Nougat to Oreo. There are already more than 4+ custom ROMs are available for Lenovo A6000/+. and most of them are working good. <br />

I am writing this post to avail all Android Oreo Roms at one place. It is difficult to test every ROM and give review of it by making blog post for each rom. So I decided to provide links of oreo roms in this post. I will add new ROMs as soon as they come out and will update the links as the dev updates the ROM. DOT OS (Droid On Time) is another custom ROM for Android devices which focuses on performance and stability. This is a lineageOS based ROM and its 32bit and running on android Nougat. This rom is a little bit different from most of the custom ROMs you have used till now. <br />

So what makes it different from other ROMs? <br />
Well the developer of this ROM worked hard to customize every default app of this ROM . The work they have done on the User Interface such as animations and themes is worth praising.<br />
<br />
User interface is similar to android oreo, it is mostly white . They provided themes to change the colors of settings as well as the status bar. We can choose status bar color between white and black. There are 3-4 themes available . Basically they have the color engine in their ROM, and they tweaked the colors provided more option of colors. So its worth noticing . The color of dialer and contacts is black (Blue is boring now ). The music app and the messaging apps are awesome . we can choose colors as we like to customize them.<br />

The best thing I mostly liked about this ROM is the Animations . Every animation is customized in this ROM .Such as opening and closing of apps, pop up dialogues , animation when clicking on a input box. You can see the animations in Video given in this post below . <br />
<br />
Battery backup and performance is great because it is based on lineage OS. It will work smoothly on 1GB RAM device.<br />
<br />
About customization options - well not much options but only important customization options are available. You can see them in video.<br />

Validus ROM is one of the three ROMs which is built by Ground Zero Rom Team. On nougat , Support is provided by Team GZR for three roms namely         Validus, Tipsy and Tesla. Now with the coming of android Oreo 8.0 they have now only two Roms - GZOSP(AOSP Based) , and Validus.<br />

Thanks to developer Hassan Sardar we are getting unofficial builds of Validus Oreo Rom . The Rom is still in beta stage but seems very stable because most of the feature are working . There are no major bugs in Rom except a minor error which appears after every reboot of phone , it will also be solved after some time. <br />

Its a 32Bit Rom and it comes with a lot of customization options which are not yet present in other oreo based custom roms . Performance is always better in all Oreo ROMs. Battery Backup is also good . Following are the customization options in Validus ROM -<br />

Alpha build of Aosp Extended rom has been released by developer Hassan Sardar . Its Version 5 of aosp extended which means it is based on Android Oreo 8.0 . Aosp Extended rom has a large number of users because of its simplicity and good performance. <br />

Lenovo A6000/plus already got 4+ custom rom builds such as AIM Rom by Mayu, AOSP by Harshit Jain, Validus and Invictus . I will post these roms in upcoming days .<br />
<br />
Performance wise all oreo roms are great for 1GB as well as 2GB users. All oreo roms are currently ARM32. Battery backup is average on all oreo roms and they can be used as daily driver. <br />
<br />
Aosp Extended Oreo has same customization options as they were on nougat. Some customization options may not work because oreo Oreo custom roms are currently in developing stage. So you will minor glitches(hardly).<br />

<b>ROM UPDATED - ITS A 32 BIT ROM NOW</b><br />
Its been a month since the Android Oreo 8.0 is released. Android Oreo is still limited to a handful of devices. Developers are trying hard to port and build oreo from source for their devices. The devices which have received unofficial builds of Oreo are not completely stable yet.<br />
<br />
Lenovo A6000/plus which was launched in 2015 has received nearly a stable build of android oreo .<strike>According to Dev_Harsh1998 there is only one bug which is related to wifi hotspot which is glitchy sometimes</strike>(fixed). Everything else seems working fine. I myself tested this rom on my Lenovo A6000 Plus and it was a great experience to run Android Oreo for first time. It is a pure AOSP ROM. So there will be absolutely no customization options such as status bar, lockscreen etc.<br />
<br />
Rom was smooth on my Lenovo A6000 Plus (2GB) . Battery backup is not that great but its still good for normal users. Its a 32BIT rom .It also supports F2FS , if you know how to use it then you can enable it to improve performance on 1GB ram version . You can also use Substratum Themes on Android Oreo ,I will give link on how to use them.<br />

<b>Today </b>I am sharing this Android Oreo for both of the devices i.e. for Lenovo a6000 and A6000 Plus.<br />
I will share all the steps one by one but first have a look at screenshots and a video of Android Oreo running on Lenovo A6000 Plus.<br />

Packet capture is a computer networking term for intercepting a data packet that is crossing or moving over a specific computer network .<br />

Once a packet is captured, it is stored temporarily so that it can be analyzed. The packet is inspected to help diagnose and solve network problems and determine whether network security policies are being followed. <br />

In simple terms we can say that it is a way of watching the data which is being transmitted from one computer to another computer , one cellphone to another cellphone when you are connected to internet. When you use internet on a computer or smartphone to access websites or apps , there is an exchange of data between your computer and the website. <br />

Let's take a simple example , suppose you are signing up on an android app, when you submit your details such as email, name and passwords , this data will be sent to the server over a network connection where your data will be saved temporarily or permanently. This data is either will be sent in a plain text or in an encrypted way. If it is being sent in plain text then there are chances that a hacker might get access to your personal information . It depends on how secure your network is. People who uses public WiFi network are more prone to such incidents. <br />

<h2><b> How to start capturing traffic ? </b></h2><ul><li>First of all install <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.greyshirts.sslcapture" target="_blank">Packet Capture For android From Play Store.</a> </li>
<li> Open the App , you will be see option to install SSL certificate , you can skip if you don't want to install.  I recommend it to install because you will get more information about the network traffic of an app using this. </li>
<li>You need lockscreen pin or pattern to be enabled before you install ssl certificate . If you already have a pin or pattern lock then it will ask for pin or pattern , its necessary for installing SSL certificate.</li>
<li>Now when you are ready  start capturing traffic by clicking on start button given on top right corner. The app will ask to setup a VPN connection , so click on OK.</li>
<li>Capturing will start , and you will see apps names , just click on app name to see the data its been sending and receiving .</li>

There are some features missing in app . We can't monitor traffic of perticular app . App will display data of all apps which are using internet . some data which is encrypted using keys can not be decrypted. So you will find some redundant data which you can not understand. So just skip it.  <br />

If you want to get rid of entering PIN number on a lock screen after Packet Capture is uninstalled, it is needed to clear credential storage.<br />

We all know that LineageOS doesn't comes with theme support such as Substratum and Color Engine . But its possible to add theme support in lineage OS, don't worry , devs do all this creepy things for us. <br />

So this build has Substratum theme engine support as well as the support of color engine by Paranoid Android . You can use one of them at a time , if you apply any substratum theme then the Color Engine will be automatically disabled . You can choose what you want to use .Color engine changes color of background and icons of some apps but a substratum theme can do a lot more .<br />

This build comes with default hyper kernel which is optimized for performance , so you have to sacrifice some extra battery juice if <br />
you want performance .This is a totally stable ROM for daily use with no random reboots and other problem . If you want your battery life then you should try Phantom Legacy kernel , in which you can decrease CPU and CPU units and choose prebuilt custom governors .<br />

How To Flash</span></h2><br />
<b>1. </b>Download The ROM in internal storage or External SD card as you wish.<br />

<b>3. </b>Make a backup of Current ROM (Highly recommended if you are noob ).<br />

<b>4. </b>Wipe Data/Cache/System/Dalvik Cache.<br />

<b>5.</b> Click Install and Select the ROM you downloaded and Slide the bottom bar to start flashing. <br />

<b>6. </b>Flash Gapps.<br />

<b>7. </b>Flash Magisk Zip <br />
