If you are someone who <a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/author/assembledebug/" target="_blank">follows my work</a> on Android Authority, <a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/gemini-live-compact-overlay-preview-apk-3565630/" target="_blank">I spotted this first back in</a> June 2025. Since then, I have shared continuously about the changes which Google was doing with this overlay. </p><p>Currently when you start Gemini Live through the Gemini overlay or inside the app, you have the main UI where you see all the controls like screen sharing, mute/unmute, switching to video etc. While using Gemini Live when you switch to back another app, the conversation continues in background and you see some of these controls in your status bar or notification area. Now you can switch from main Gemini Live screen to another app and you will see a nice FAB (Floating Action Button) which you can move around screen and collapse or expand to hide and see all the UI controls like mute/mute, video, screen sharing, transcription on/off or switching to normal Gemini overlay. We saw features like easier widget resizing, removal of some options from Pixel Launcher's overview screen, Intrusion detection, DND sync across Android devices and left behind reminder notification for Pixel Watches. Other than this, Google is working on feature related to labels in Gmail, Aadhar card support in Google Wallet and various new UI tweaks and features in Google Photos app.</p>
