The Pixel Weather app has been available on Google Pixel devices for more than a year. Not many people know that you can actually sideload the app on your Android device to use it. Most of the things will work as expected but feature like AI Weather reports will not work because they require Gemini Nano.

The Pixel Weather app has widgets as well but they were exclusive to Google Pixels only. These widgets were actually part of the Google app and were visible only on Pixels. Now thanks to a new update Google has made them part of the Pixel Weather app itself and luckily, they appear in widget list on non-pixel devices now. Here is how you can use them -

Requirements -

  1. A device running Android 15 and above
  2. Pixel Weather APK (apkmirror)
  3. Split APK installer

Instructions -

  1. Download the Pixel Weather apk and Split APK Installer which I linked above.
  2. Install the Pixel Weather APK using Split APK Installer. We have to use Split APK Installer because the Pixel Weather apk is a bundled apk and we can not install it normally.
  3. Now open Pixel Weather app and grant location permissions when requested.
  4. Now you add add the widgets on your launcher home screen by choosing the Pixel Weather widgets from the widget list. Different devices have different way of adding widgets, so figure this out yourself :p
  5. You have to keep the location enabled all the time, otherwise the widgets will not show any information and will ask you to enable the location.

I have tested this on my OnePlus 13R running Android 15 and things worked as expected. If you need help you can ask in my telegram group.
