Google has been gradually moving away from the Google Assistant and shifting toward the AI-powered Gemini across many of its products, including Google TV, Wear OS, Android, Android Automotive, and more. Back in March, Google announced that later this year the classic Google Assistant would no longer be accessible on most mobile devices.

For now, Android users still have the option to use Google Assistant if they prefer not to switch to Gemini. You can easily toggle between both assistants through the Google Assistant and Gemini settings.

Google has now provided a specific timeframe for how long Google Assistant will remain available on Android. While checking some information, I came across a banner on the official Google Support forum of Android Auto that confirms the month and year.

According to the support page, Gemini is replacing Google Assistant on most mobile devices. Google Assistant will remain available until March 2026.

Google Assistant is still available for use until March 2026.

This means you can continue using Google Assistant for about 3–4 more months, after which switching back to it will no longer be possible. Google already begun removing certain features from Google Assistant back in 2024, and Gemini now supports most of the capabilities previously offered by Google Assistant.
